Jeff was largely responsible for the overlay material (see &lt;a href="http://googlemapsbook.com/chapter7/ServerCustomTiles/" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow"&gt;this demo&lt;/a&gt;), but I've really become intrigued by it in the last few months; you'll see some cool map-overlay stuff on the blog in the coming weeks.

And thanks for the GNS link---that looks like some cool stuff. (Oh, and if you're feeling magnanimous, you could always leave us a review at Amazon...)</description>

		<description>Hi Just got my copy today via Amazon.co.uk. Very nice work particularly improving the user interface and Optimizing/Scaling large data sets. I'd never thought about treating large data sets as overlays. 

Two things
1. Apress haven't added your book to their $10 promo dropdown yet. I've emailed their support.
2. You might find http://earth-info.nga.mil/gns/html/ of interest. Raw data!
